Does anyone know how to get sports memorabilia for cheap to use in a fundraiser?

Johnny asked:

We are running a golf outing to support the local little league in NY and wanted to do an auction at the dinner. Does anyone have any experience with this in obtaining items in a cost effective way so we can maximize what we make on them?

Ask the sports celebrity of your choice to donate S M for your cause. If he likes the cause he will donate. Check antique stores.

Just go to a sporting goods store like Dicks and get some golfing things. Try golf balls, T’s, towels, bags, clubs, etc. Good luck!

If you have a “hometown” sports hero, contact him/her to ask for a donation AND be the face of this effort. Most major sports figures command a fee to do this (or expect some renumeration - even if its first class air and a nice hotel) so be sure to ask local “movers and shakers” for an intro (and donations) for introductions/help.

If you don’t have/can obtain these contacts or live in a smaller community, sometimes a local newscaster/celebrity will suffice.
